Any Language Communications Inc. Announces Major Breakthrough in Semantic Multilingual Natural Language Understanding Using Novel and Patent-Pending “Relationship Analysis” Methodology.

Company launches language-independent RAE (Relationship Analysis Engine™) natural language understanding software component that is designed to work with any natural language and has been tested with Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, and Russian.  RAE software technology is viewed as an enabler for faster better Text Analysis, Data Mining, Semantic Metadata Indexing, and more.

U.S. Federal Government value-added reseller channel partner G3 Systems, Inc. is selected by ALCI to support RAE sales and service for Defense, Intelligence, Homeland Security, Law Enforcement and other Agencies and to help faciliate RAE licensing and application integration support for application software companies serving federal government agencies.

RAE can do text analysis, data mining, high-quality machine translation, semantic metadata indexing, and semantic tagging for text in any language.  Provided as powerful component software, RAE enables application software developers to add ultra high-fidelity natural language understanding (NLU) functionality into their solutions for Defense, Intelligence, Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, etc.  For example, RAE empowers custom multilingual semantic metadata indexing solutions that can greatly reduce or eliminate the need for humans to manually read documents and put XML tags in by hand.  RAE thereby helps automate the contextual interpretation of language concepts for use as an information index, including the capability to index and reference Web and non-Web pages with no restrictions on vocabulary. RAE can provide contextual natural language understanding interpretation of all parts of speech, generating accurate semantic meanings of all indexed words.

RAE overcomes fundamental weaknesses in widely-used approaches to natural language understanding based on example-based statistics or the Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) method.  RAE is based on a different method for the semantic analysis of free text that does not use either examples or LSI techniques to interpret natural language.  Called the Language Independent Semantic Taxonomy (LIST), the proprietary Any Language Communications Inc. approach permits more intelligence into the meaning of each concept, and permits recognition of relationships among concepts.  The LIST method also keeps the message structure intact for possible translation into other langauges.  RAE component software enables the much sought-after capability to index, reference, and analyze documents written in any language; the automatic recognition of changed text pages, with automatic updates; recognition of unknown words for manual classification and dictionary updates; among other useful features.

Finding specific topics wherever they may be, in whatever language the information is written in, requires the development of a multilingual semantic metadata index.  RAE empowers this.  Custom multilingual metadata indexing using Relationship Analysis powered by RAE can:

  • Classify information on any subject
  • Automatically classify both words and phrases
  • Classify entries in context with the surounding material
  • Identify part-of-speech
  • Provide standardization of language concepts
  • Provide levels of structural detail
  • Expand the metadata taxonomy to as much detail as the user desires
  • Be combined or excluded with other metadata
  • Classify text irrespective of the natural language in which the text was written

The LIST methodology and RAE software are based on 20 years of research and development by ALCI founder Dr. Howard Bender.  A recognized expert in natural language understanding, he has taught software engineering at the college level for over two decades.  Dr. Bender developed the joint Master of Software Engineering degree program for the University of Maryland and has received formal recognition of his quality work from organizations such as NASA and Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Bender is pleased to bring powerful RAE software to market and commented: “Current approaches to natural language understanding involve statistical analyses to select meanings from a ‘world knowledge’ database, to interpret the contextual meaning of messages.  However, Any Language Communications Inc. has developed a novel system that uses the innate relationships of the words in a sensible message to determine the contextual meanings of all the words, without using world knowledge.  Our new methodolgy is called Relationship Analysis and is based on the implementation of five key concepts: k-Nearest Neighbor Analysis; Language Independent Semantic Taxonomy (LIST); number language instead of words; tailored genetic algorithm to filter results; and parallel data dictionaries.  All of this is encapsulated in our powerful Relationship Analysis Engine (RAE) component software which we are now making available to select government agencies, corporations and institutions.”
